About
Me
This page shares who I am, what brought me to Learning Experience Design, and the experiences that shape how I approach my work.
Who I Am
I am Michael, a learning experience designer with a background in media arts, digital design, and systems analysis. I have always been drawn to the intersection of creativity, problem-solving, and building tools that help people learn. My professional path has taken me through roles in design, digital strategy, and solutions analysis, where I often acted as a bridge between teams, stakeholders, and end users. Each experience strengthened my interest in accessible, well-structured learning environments and reinforced how much I value supporting learners in practical, meaningful ways.

Why I Chose This Profession
In every role I have held, the work I valued most was the work that helped people learn: guiding clients, explaining systems, simplifying technical processes, and supporting teams. Those experiences showed me that learning experience design is the field where my skills in communication, creativity, and problem-solving come together in a meaningful way.

What Led Me to the Program
There was a clear catalyst for enrolling in this program. After years of working in fast-paced technical and design environments, I wanted to pivot toward work that felt more purposeful and learner-centered. Northeastern’s LXD/T program stood out because it balances theory, design practice, accessibility, and real-world application. I wanted formal training that could deepen the instincts I already had and help me grow into a more intentional, research-informed designer.

My Concentration
My professional interests focus on accessible online learning and thoughtful, well-structured design. I am drawn to creating learning experiences that feel intuitive and supportive, and these priorities guide how I approach projects and how I am developing as a designer in this program.

A Bit More About Me
I have always been someone who learns by diving into tools and figuring out how things work. I enjoy experimenting with software, building workflows, and finding ways to make complicated processes feel more manageable. This drive to learn and refine my skills helps me adapt quickly and approach design with flexibility and a problem-solving mindset.
Education Narrative
When I think about my education, I don’t just think about grades or classrooms. I think about the twists, setbacks, and breakthroughs that shaped my confidence, my creativity, and the way I show up as a learner. This video walks through those experiences and the lessons that continue to influence how I approach design and growth.
